On Friday evening, October 16, three people died in a two vehicle crash on Highway 281.
According to authorities the accident happened shortly after 6.30 p.m. on Highway 281 around two miles south of Jacksboro. They said that 19 year old Brandon Tyler, of San Antonio who was driving a Mitsubishi vehicle was travelling south on Highway 281 to Highway 300. Tyler then attempted to turn left onto Highway 38, however, the Texas Department of Public Safety believe that he failed to stop and yield the right of way and was struck by a 2013 Peterbilt trash truck driven by 62 year old Lloyd Anthony Cannady, of Weatherford, who was travelling north on Highway 281.
The crash caused both vehicles to come to rest in a field and the impact ejected the female passenger in Tyler’s car, who was 18 year old Katrina Marie Wood, also of San Antonio. Tragically both drivers were trapped in their vehicles as they both burst in to flames. All three were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
