Over the weekend of August 20 and 21, three pedestrians were injured in separate accidents involving vehicles.
On Saturday at 11 p.m. a man walking along Interstate 35 was hit by an 18-wheeler while trying to cross the northbound lanes near Walters Street. According to police the truck driver did not see the victim until he had hit him. The unnamed victim was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Only around ten minutes later, another man was hit by a car on Rigsy Avenue near Pecan Valley Drive. On this occasion there were two men walking and one of them stopped in a turn lane where he was hit by a car. Once again the driver did not see the victim who was taken to the same hospital, also in a critical condition. The driver will not be charged.
The third accident happened just after 2 a.m. when a man was hit by a car as he was crossing North Zarzamora and West Laurel. He was in stable condition when taken to University Hospital and again the driver claimed not to have seen him.
